Toomsuba, Miss. The staff at a local Head Start Center invited parents to participate in a health fair Thursday.
Parents gathered at the Toomsuba Head Start to learn more about keeping themselves and their children healthy. Local clinics and agencies offered information and services, such as blood pressure testing. Administrator Roberta Scott says it's important to make parents aware of the resources available to care for their children's health.
"We give children a head start and we give them a total head start," explained Scott. "It's not only educating them, but making sure they are healthy and ready for going into school. "
Scott says staff members host a health fair about twice a year for their Head Start parents.
