Judge Confirmed to Federal Bench

Carlton Reeves of Jackson has been confirmed as a U.S. District judge for the southern half of Mississippi.
The state's two Republican U.S. senators, Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, say the Senate confirmed Reeves' nomination by a voice vote Sunday afternoon in Washington.
President Barack Obama, a Democrat, nominated Reeves to the post in April.
Cochran and Wicker supported Reeves' nomination and introduced him to the Senate Judiciary Committee during a confirmation hearing in July.
Reeves is a partner in the law firm of Piggott Reeves Johnson P.A. in Jackson. He also served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 1995 to 2001, where he was chief of the Southern District's civil division.
