Lauderdale County, Mississippi Law enforcement will be out observing the roadways this holiday weekend to make sure everyone is safely celebrating July 4th.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department will be setting up checkpoints to look for impaired drivers. They will also be making sure people are driving with proper license and registration and that drivers are obeying all traffic laws.
"Make sure to wear your seatbelt and everyone in your vehicle has their seatbelt on. Drive the posted speed limit and be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to all the other vehicles that are on the roadway," said Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
Calhoun also says to make sure to have a designated driver if you plan to consume any alcohol at a party or barbecue.
