MPD Officers Receive Awards

Meridian, Miss. Five Meridian police officers were recently awarded certificates of merit for their work in responding to a recent burglary.

Police received a 911 call from the 2000 block of 23rd Avenue about a burglary in progress, where the suspect was still in the house with a mother and four children. The mother and her children were able to escape the house safely, and Meridian police came to the house and took the subject into custody without incident. One of the officers told us how it feels to be recognized.

"It makes you feel good anytime that you get an award or a pat on the back, or someone that tells you you did a good job," said Sergeant Tim Eldridge of the Meridian Police Department.

Meridian police were able to respond to that incident in only two minutes.
