Meridian's newest sportsplex might just be connecting with another center in the city.
The Meridian Parks and Recreation Center director Mark Naylor met with the City Council to discuss progress on the sportsplex. He says they want to incorporate the Frank Cochran center with the basketball facility. They are also trying to add offices for park and recreation between the buildings and possibly a splash pad at the park. But Naylor says cost is a factor.
"As it is, we want to get what they have on a drawing board built, and they're trying to see what would be left or would the city come up with some additional funds, just depending on how much we want to expand," Naylor said.
The Highland Park Community Recreation Center will be funded by $4 million of a $14 million bond issue by Lauderdale County.
