State Games Impact

Every year we tell you about the huge economic boost the State Games brings to our area, but where are folks actually spending their money when they come to town?

We spoke to parents at the All-Star baseball competition at QV Sykes Park Friday to find out.

"The boys went to an amusement park last night," says Eddie Hudson of Cleveland,"they did the go kart rides, and the putt putt golf."

"The Park" on North Hills Street isn't the only local business getting a boost from State Games patrons.

"It's a great town with lots to do," says Mitsi Meyer, of Merigold, "and we've been eating and shopping and watching baseball."

Beyond increased business at amusement parks, restaurants, and the mall, hotels have been packed for the better part of a month for every weekend of the 2012 State Games of Mississippi.
