Suspect Extradited to Sumter County

Sumter County authorities have a suspect in custody in connection with a murder in the Morningstar community.

Angela Jackson was extradited to Sumter County from New Orleans Thursday. She is accused of hindering prosecution in a murder case.

31-year-old Detrick Bell of York was killed at the Morningstar Community Center June 18.

Sherman Collins will be charged with Bell's murder, but he is fighting extradition.

Sumter County Sheriff Tyrone Clark expressed gratitude to those who he says helped build the case.

"Our department, especially investigator Luther Davis, who did a tremendous job from day one in staying on top of it until we got to the bottom of it," said Sumter County Sheriff Tyrone Clark. "And we'd also like to thank the district attorney's office as well as US marshals and the ABI for their assistance."

Clark says he'll seek a governor's warrant to get Collins to Sumter County to face the murder charge.
