Woman's Car Recovered
As you may recall, Peggy Tingle's favorite car, her 1992 Ford Mustang, was stolen from her garage Sunday morning. After a nationwide APB was put out on the car, Meridian Police were able to successfully locate the stolen vehicle at an abandoned house near the Taco Bell on 8th Street.
"We found the car, or the police found the car, Meridian Police Department, found the car yesterday morning approximately between 9 and 11 AM in the morning.
The car was found mostly intact, but the back windshield was busted out. Bell says nothing was taken from the car and that it is fixable, and they are following a few leads to try to find a suspect.
"At this time I just know that a few people ran away from the scene of the crime when they drove up upon the car when the detective discovered it, so that's all we know at this point as far as leads are concerned."
"The Meridian Police Department have a few steps you can take to keep something like this from happening to you." "Well it doesn't have to happen to you. Basically there are two things you do, you make the house look occupied and you buy the best security that you can get, that you can afford."
Bell thanks the dedication of the Meridian Police Department in locating her Aunt's car, and police say that they are stepping up patrols in the area and meeting with numerous neighborhood watch associations to help put an end to this spike in crime.
