A former Meridian journalist has announced his intentions to move into the political arena.
Former Meridian Star editor Fredie Carmichael says he plans to run for the open District 4 seat on the Lauderdale County School Board, in the Nov. 6 special election.
Carmichael recently left the newspaper for a job with the Mississippi Development Authority. The current board member, Scott Sollie, does not plan to seek re-election.
