Hillbilly Run Raises Money for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation operates on donations and all of the medical research is supported by donations collected from individuals, families, and companies. On Saturday, the Hillbilly Run helped bring in those donations to help fight cystic fibrosis.

"I think it is important, just because a lot of people don't know about cystic fibrosis and I personally didn't know when I found out," according to Ashley Luke, whose daughter suffers from cystic fibrosis. "So this just raises awareness and shows that you can come out and have a good time and support a great cause and hopefully save a bunch of kids and adults lives."

The Hillbilly Run was held at Lazy Acres in Chunky. Angie Burks with Lazy Acres says this was the first 5K run to be held there and that multiple obstacles were set up to challenge even the best runners. At the end of the day, though, everyone was a winner.

For more information on cystic fibrosis or to make a donation, call the Mississippi chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at 601-981-3100.
