First-Ever Chunky Christmas Parade

The town of Chunky hosted its first-ever Christmas parade this weekend.

Newscenter 11 was there as dozens of cars and floats made their way through the streets of Chunky on Sunday afternoon. There were plenty of more people sitting around, enjoying all of the sites and sounds that were offered.

"The whole meaning behind this is that we're trying to portray the story," Stephanie Wright from Chunky Baptist Church says. "The real story of Christmas because children seem to believe in Santa Claus more than they do or know the story behind Santa Claus other than the actual birth of Jesus Christ."

Wright says since the parade was based on the real Christmas story, Santa and his reindeer were not present for the parade. She says the community worked together to assemble a nativity scene.
