No Plan for Current Police Facility

With the Meridian Police Department set to move into a brand new police station this spring, then comes the decision of what to do with the old police station.

It is no secret that the current police department has made for depolorable working conditions for police officers. There is no air conditioning, leaks in the roof, and mold. There is also not a lot of space there. Meridian Chief Administrative Officer Tim Miller says plans are still up in the air.

"I really don't know," Miller says. "It could be a parking area, we're not sure. It could be storage for a while. At some point, we'll have to deal with that building and if it's not good enough for a police station, I suspect it won't be used for offices or anything like that."

The current police station is approximately 50-years old.
