Deadly House Fire Investigation

A house fire claimed the life of a four year old boy in Clarke County over the weekend.

Sheriff Todd Kemp says the boy was under the care of a teenage baby sitter who managed to help get everyone else out of the structure.

While the fire has been ruled an accident, the Sheriff's department is still looking at the living situation of those that were in the home at the time of the fire.

"The Clarke County Department of Human Services is looking into this as well as the Clarke County Sheriff's Office," says Kemp, "we are going to conduct a full investigation to determine...why this happened."

Utility officials have confirmed that the home did not have service at the time of the fire, Sheriff Kemp says any evidence from this case will go to the Clarke County grand jury set to convene in September.
