Many news stories about charter schools state that the charters are not subject to some of the same rules as traditional public schools. Note to media: please report to your readers what rules do public schools have to follow that charter schools are exempt from. The follow-up question would be why the public schools can't follow the same rules as the charters, if that's what is making the charters schools successful.
