Drivers in Meridian may be seeing some new patrol cars on the roads soon.
Meridian Police have purchased 10 new patrol cars, some new motorcycles, and a few supervisor vehicles that are being worked into the rotation.
All of the vehicles were purchased with seized drug funds, MPD officials say plenty of thought went into which make and model was purchased.
The patrol cars are 2012 Chevrolet Caprices.
"As of right now we're going to try to put in the budget a certain number of cars per year," says Assistant Chief James Sharpe, "and slowly phase out the ones that we have in service right now."
Police say since the new cars are all black they'll save over $1,000 per vehicle, they hope to replace the entire fleet with the new cars in the next five years.
