In recent weeks supervisors in Clarke County have been fielding concerns about the lack of 911 addresses outside many homes in the county.
Board president Paul Mosley says county officials are hoping residents will listen to their call through the media to update their emergency information.
"We do have an ordinance; it has been in effect for 20 years," says Mosley. "We need people to do it; it's for their own safety."
"There has been times that we've experienced a loss in time getting to a particular call because we can't find the house," says Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp.
The board is depending on some county volunteer fire departments to conduct surveys and find out who does not have their 911 address posted.
The lack of 911 addresses can be a big problem in rural areas. Mosley asks that anyone who lives in a home off the road to please post a visible sign with your correct address.
