MCC Hosts Pinning Ceremony

Meridian Community College hosted a pinning ceremony for graduates of its licensed practical nursing program Friday.

The college turns out a field of LPNs to shore up the healthcare field twice a year.

MCC president, Dr. Scott Elliott, says the goal is to have a workforce well-prepared to answer the call of Meridian's hospitals and clinics.

"It's a really proud day any time that you see students finish what they started," said Elliott. "They set high goals. To see someone go through the rigor of a curriculum like this and to graduate from MCC with a great career in the offing, it just makes you so proud."

Elliott says all of MCC's healthcare faculty have also worked in the field. He credits them and the students' families with the success of the program.
