Local Servicemen Reunite with Families

A group of about 8 national guardsmen were reunited with their families at Meridian Regional Airport on Thursday evening.

The troops are part of the 111th General Aviation Support Squadron. They have spent the last year serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Those we caught up with were just happy to be back with their loved ones.

"Of course, it's a great feeling to be at home, finally," Sgt. David Kimbrel says. "When you're overseas, it's the only thing you think about, is getting home. This moment right here, a joyous reunion for me and the family, friends."

3 other local servicemen were due to arrive in Meridian on a flight from Atlanta around 2:00 on Thursday afternoon, but bad weather diverted that flight to Mobile.
