Send Pedestrian Struck and Killed by State Trooper Vehicle

Authorities say a pedestrian was struck and killed in Quitman on Monday night.

Investigators tell Newscenter 11 that a Mississippi Highway Patrol officer hit a pedestrian about 8:30 on Highway 145, near the Western Motel. The victim was dead-on-arrival at Watkins Hospital. The trooper was not injured.

The name of the pedestrian has not been released. However, authorities have identified the trooper as Jamie Moore.

The incident is under investigation. Newscenter 11 will continue to follow this story.
