Musician Shares Art at Northwest Middle School

Some local students got to learn a bit about the music business and the importance of education.

Derrick Martin, a Mississippi musician, came to Northwest Junior High School in Meridian to present a musical workshop.

"What I try to do is always keep it important, the balance of kids, how important education is to success in other areas," said Martin.

Monday's presentation was a part of the Mississippi Whole Schools' art initiative, which encourages the use of arts in the education process.
