Meridian firefighters battled a fire at a home on 30th Street on Wednesday night.

Officials say fire in the home's fireplace got out of control about 8:30. Family members were home at the time, but everyone got out in time and there were no injuries.

The home suffered heavy damage to the second story and water damage on the first.
