Meridian Main Street Honors Standout Leaders

On Thursday night, awards were presented to those who make a difference in our community.

Dozens were on hand for the annual Meridian Main Street awards ceremony in downtown Meridian. Organizers say it is important to take time to recognize all of the accomplishments that are being made in the Queen City each and every day.

"We've got a real challenge here," according to John McClure with Meridian Main Street. "We've got a lot of work yet to be done and by working together, we're going to make these great things happen."

Here is a rundown of the numerous awards that were presented.

Volunteer of the Year: Peachie Saxon

Outstanding Board Member: J.F. "Bud" Thompson

Lifetime Achievement: Tommy Dulaney

Outstanding Building Project: Riley Foundation - MSU Riley Center.

Outstanding Economic Restructuring Project: Maureen Lofton - Earth's Bounty.

Partner of the Year: WTOK-TV

Outstanding New Business: Sandy's Organic

Merchant of the Year: Robbie Hales and Trent Hales - The Liberty Shop.

Main Street Hero: Kenny Watts
