Choctaw Tribal Election Information

Members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians are preparing to go to the polls to vote. Next month, the tribe will vote on changes to the tribe's constitution. The changes involve three amendments.

"There are three proposed changes to articles that we have in the tribal constitution,' says Misty Brescia Dreifuss, who is the Public Information Director for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. 'So, as always, the tribal constitution is important to the people. So, it is an important election. We need people to vote and to register. We want it to be the will of the people."

Voting will take place Feb. 19. Tribal members who will be 18-years-old by that date are eligible to vote. However, tribal members must be registered to participate. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is Jan. 29. Forms to do this are available at the tribal office and online. A link is provided below.
