Local Girls Treated to "Cinderella's Closet"

Young ladies from across the area were treated like queens on Saturday, thanks to Meridian's Junior Auxiliary. JA members hosted "Cinderella's Closet," dressing deserving young ladies in their finest for upcoming spring proms.

More than two dozen teenaged girls nominated by teachers, counselors or administrators will be princess for a day, thanks to Meridian's Junior Auxiliary. It's a project that JA members have been working on for months, according to volunteer Kacey Bailey.

"We partner with Hope Village for Children, the Boys and Girls Club and area high schools to give the girls a great experience," Bailey says. "Which includes a dress, jewelry, earrings and shoes, so that they can feel special on their big day."

Cinderella's closet was set up at Le Maxim Salon in Meridian. The community really came through this year, filling the special boutique with beautiful new gowns.

"There's nothing more fun than trying on beautiful dresses and feeling good and that's what we want to do today," Bailey adds. "But also that we know they feel good on the day of their big event."

Most of the proms will be in April. JA members say they are working on providing corsages and a salon style for the girls, as well to give them that extra sparkle for a memory making night.
