Funeral services for Eunice L. Peoples will be held at 10:00 A.M. , on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Newton County Funeral Home – South Chapel with Bro. Randy Cuchens officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Peoples, 88 of Lawrence, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at her home. She was a native of Lawrence, moving back here in 1974, after working in the nursing profession all over the United States and Germany. When she relocated here, she was the nursing coordinator for the Newton County Health Department for 25 years, and retired after a combined total of 55 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, where she was a member of the Dorcas-Faith Sunday School Class. She enjoyed chrocheting and reading. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them.
Survivors include: one daughter: Frances Peoples Graham of Lawrence; two sons: James M. Peoples of Lawrence and John M. Peoples, III of Petal; grandchildren: Layla N. Peoples, Katie A. Peoples, Amanda M. Garcia, Jessica M. Bryars, Jessie J. Morgan, and Hannah A. Peoples; great-grandchildren: Madisyn B. Morgan, Hayden C. Bryars, Kaylee B. Massey, Gabrielle Bryars, and Jasper Peoples; one sister: Bonnie (Eugene) Pace of Florence, S.C. ; two sister-in-laws: Virginia Hand of Lawrence and Ona Hand of Newton; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband: John M. Peoples; her parents: Robert and Eunice Parker Hand; her brothers: Robert Lewis, William, Sammie, and John Luther; and her sisters: Jessie, Doris, Frances, and Becky.
