Meridian Community College catcher Wade Wass completed one of the more impressive seasons by a catcher in recent memory at MCC. Wass was named a member of the 2012 NCAA Division I All-American Team that was announced by the NJCAA Tuesday morning. Wass was named a member of the third team and just completed a superb season at the plate for the Eagles. Wass finished the season with 23 home runs which led the NJCAA and collected 67 RBIs, to go along with a .427 batting average. Wass made only six errors behind the plate during the 2012 season and finished with a .984 fielding percentage.
Wass becomes the 18th member of the All-American Team from the Meridian Community College baseball program. Wass becomes the third catcher in school history to be named an All-American joining David Steed (1993-1994) and Braxton Whitehead (1996-1997). Wass is a native of Pensacola, FL and has already signed to continue his college baseball career with the University of Alabama. Wass was also drafted in the 12th round last week by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 MLB Draft.
