Eustachy Leads USM Back To NCAA Tournament
Posted: 11:27 AM Mar 14, 2012
Reporter: Associated Press

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Southern Miss coach Larry Eustachy never
doubted he could guide the program to the NCAA tournament, even if
the journey took longer than expected.
The ninth-seeded Golden Eagles (25-8) will play their first
tournament game in 21 years when they face eighth-seeded Kansas
State (21-10) in the second round on Thursday at Consol Energy
Center.
Eustachy won consecutive Big 12 championships at Iowa State in
2000 and 2001 before being fired in 2003 after pictures surfaced of
him partying with college students. He spent a year out of coaching
before landing at Southern Miss, where he's slowly built the Golden
Eagles into a Conference USA contender.
Kansas State is making its fourth NCAA appearance in five years
under Frank Martin and is the only team to beat Missouri twice this
season.
