Reporter: Lindsey Hall

Chick-fil-A Bowl representative Rod Hovater will visit Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday for the Mississippi State – Ole Miss game. The two teams are being scouted as potential SEC representatives in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31.

Hovater, sporting the Chick-fil-A Bowl’s signature navy blue blazer, will be available to the media before the game and in the press box during the game.

To arrange an interview, please contact Caitlin Davis by phone at (404) 586-8415 or by email at cdavis@cfabowl.com.

The ACC and SEC team selections for the 45th annual Chick-fil-A Bowl will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 2. The Chick-fil-A Bowl is the oldest guaranteed ACC vs. SEC match-up in the bowl business.

Mississippi State and the Chick-fil-A Bowl

Mississippi State (8-3, 4-3) has made three appearances in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, most recently in 1999, defeating Clemson 17-7. The Bulldogs’ all-time record in the Bowl is 1-2, with losses coming against North Carolina in 1992 and North Carolina State in 1994.

Ole Miss and the Chick-fil-A Bowl

Mississippi (5-6, 2-5) has made one appearance in the Chick-fil-A Bowl, defeating Georgia Tech 41-18 in 1971. The Rebels will open the 2014 season against Boise State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.

TICKET ALERT:

Fewer than 1,000 tickets remain available for public sale for the 45th annual Chick-fil-A Bowl. Bowl officials issued the ticket alert last week, with ticket inventory dwindling, urging fans to purchase tickets now to avoid being shut out. The Chick-fil-A Bowl expects to announce its 16th straight sellout before teams are selected Dec. 2.
