Send Monken Announces Six Hirings on the Southern Miss Football Staff.

New Southern Miss head football coach Todd Monken announced the hiring of six full-time assistants Friday.

David Duggan returns to the defensive coordinator job after spending one year at North Carolina. Duggan held the same position for the Golden Eagles in 2011 when they set an NCAA record for interceptions returned for touchdowns.

Marcus Arroyo comes from California ("Cal") to be offensive coordinator.

Pete Perot will coach the offensive line, while Andrew Thacker has the Safties. John Wozniak will over-see wide receivers and special teams while John Simon will coach running-backs.

Monken will keep Steve Buckley from Ellis Johnson's staff to serve as recruiting coordinator.

The remainder of the staff will be announced at a later date.
