Six local high school baseball players who are part of Mississippi's "Golden Spikes" baseball team celebrated the next level of their playing careers Sunday.
Six of the club team team's seven signess gathered at Oak Grove Baptist Church for a signing ceremony. The seniors come from Union high school, Newton County, Leake academy and Wayne Academy. Newton County's Reagan Warren won a 500 dollar scholarship. Monty McMullen is the Meridian-based club team's foudner.
"The credit goes to (players) them, because they put in the work. Their parents put in the work. It's a lot of sacrifice. This is kinda the topic of it," says McMullen. "We wanted to take our elite talent as older players and get them all the opportunities we could."
Here are a list of the signees, their current school and where they will attend college next year. For more information about the "Golden Spikes" club baseball team, visit goldenspikesbaseballclub.com or cal 601-879-4722.
