The cold front that moved through this morning and brought all the rain has now moved into the Gulf of Mexico, and skies are already beginning to disappear as high pressure reasserts itself over the southeast. The high that is currently over Chicago will slide to our northeast tomorrow, turn our winds more from the east-northeast, and allow us to see plenty of sunshine as we warm into the lower 70s. Clouds will begin to return on Sunday ahead of the warm front (the cold front currently in the Gulf that will retreat northward) and cold front with an area of low pressure that is also currently in the Gulf. This system will mostly lift to our north, so while we won't see heavy rainfall, we will see some rain late Sunday into Monday. The front should clear on Monday evening, and while some forecasts are keeping rain for Tuesday and even Wednesday, I think we will clear out after the front passes.
The reason for my dry thinking is a big upper level ridge (area of high pressure aloft) will be moving in on top of us, which will help limit any pop-up showers from forming. Also, I do not think we will see enough warm air moving in to cause showers to develop that way either. Either way, temperatures will be about 10 degrees above normal as we head through the middle and end of next week.
