Monday Evening Weather Discussion

High pressure has a firm grip on our area's weather and will not relax that grip until Wednesday afternoon. With the high pressure relaxing slightly, pop-up afternoon showers will be allowed to develop, though there will be no large-scale forced lift of air to generate rain. That means we will be limited to isolated showers in the afternoons for a few of us, while most of us likely will not see a single rain drop. The high pressure rebuilds over our area this weekend, taking away any appreciable chance for even pop-up showers and sending temperatures into the mid-to-upper 90's for Saturday and Sunday.

In the tropics... an area of low pressure over the Atlantic Ocean several hundred miles north/northeast of Bermuda is showing signs of becoming better organized and taking on more tropical characteristics. The National Hurricane Center says this system could become a tropical storm tonight or tomorrow as it moves quickly toward the open waters of the North Atlantic. In the Caribbean, a flare up of showers and thunderstorms just south of Hispaniola remains disorganized. The National Hurricane Center has not made mention of this disturbance, however some computer models indicate the system may organize in the next few days. We will continue to monitor its progress.

The wind will be from the south-southeast at 5-10 mph. Wednesday will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. The morning low will be near 65. The afternoon high will be near 93. Thursday will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. The morning low will be near 66. The afternoon high will be near 94. Friday will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. The morning low will be near 67. The afternoon high will be near 95. Saturday will be mostly sunny. The morning low will be near 68. The afternoon high will be near 96. Sunday will be mostly sunny. The morning low will be near 71. The afternoon high will be near 97. Monday will be mostly sunny.
