Hot high pressure will hold on to our area this weekend and throughout next week. Sinking air associated with high pressure will warm our temperatures and prevent any rainfall. Humidity at the ground will be high enough that, when combined with the unseasonably hot temperatures, heat index values could be in the 100-105 degree range. This high pressure is expected to help to protect our area from the developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico. Computer models are split with the forecast track of the system. Some forecasts project this storm to move toward Texas around the high pressure area that is sitting on top of us now. Other models forecast the system to move east of the high pressure toward a low pressure trough off the East Coast. The easterly track seems to be more likely at this point, which could mean impact in Florida this weekend or early next week.

Tonight will be mostly clear. The low will be near 68. The wind will be light from the east. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny. The high will be near 96. The heat index will be 100-105.
