To borrow a phrase from a meme on Facebook, "If you think snow is going to stay long in Mississippi....you're going to have a bad time!" As quickly as the snow fell this morning, it is virtually all gone. The low that has brought the snow has moved into Georgia and the snow line as of early this afternoon is now in the Birmingham metro. Clouds have already started to break and will continue to clear through the overnight.

Two concerns are now present in the weather department. One is the potential for black ice on roadways tonight as temperatures drop well below freezing. Black ice is where ice forms on roads but you cannot see it. This could cause some travel problems where water is still standing overnight. Exercise caution when driving tomorrow morning. The other concern are our area rivers. All area rivers and their stages are posted under the weather headlines. In fact, 12 of 16 area rivers are above flood stage right now. The good news is rivers are starting to crest and will begin coming back down.

The rain is now gone for the foreseeable future with high pressure building in allowing plentiful sunshine. The sun will help us to finally dry out and warm us up into the weekend before temperatures tumble a bit to start next week.
