Davis Cuts Ties with Democratic Party

Former Alabama congressman Artur Davis said if he were to run for office again, it would be as a Republican.

Davis represented the 7th Congressional District, which includes west Alabama, until he sought the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 2010. He lost in the primary to Ron Sparks who was later defeated by Republican Robert Bentley in the general election, as Davis predicted.

Davis made Virginia his home after leaving Congress. He says he has not yet made a decision on running for office there.

He wrote that "cutting ties with an Alabama Democratic Party that has weakened and lost faith with more and more Alabamians every year is one thing; leaving a national party that has been the home for my political values for two decades is quite another."

Davis wrote that political parties change and says
"this is not Bill Clinton’s Democratic Party (and he knows that even if he can’t say it)."

Davis pointed out he has been critical of "an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again", that the election of Barack Obama to the presidency has united the country, and that faith institutions "should not be compelled to violate their teachings".

Well, that says a lot for this Man. He seems to think with his on head and not be led around by certain people or organizations! I'm sure he'll catch "..." for this, but he has my respect!
