Lauderdale County Supervisors this past week voted to change the county's white goods policy.

Because of demand from the public, the county voted to open the white goods sites at three county satellites permanently 24-hours a day. Satellites B,C and D will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Supervisor Craig Hitt says the sites will be patrolled just like the green boxes. White goods include furniture, appliances, and tires.

"I know I can speak for my situation. I have had a number of complaints about the gates being locked basically at the times when people could bring debris and put it out with the gates only being open from seven in the morning Monday through Friday. That is a time when most folks are working," said Craig Hitt.

Hitt says only white goods can be dropped off at these locations.
