Time for School Uniforms

With school starting in a matter of days for many children in our area, parents are having to buy plenty of school uniforms.

In Decatur Saturday, residents were able to take part in a uniform swap at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church. Families could exchange uniforms to fit their needs for the upcoming school year.

"A lot of times people don't have the uniforms they need for their children so what we try to do is tell them that if they have a child that is not wearing that same size anymore they'll bring that size up here and they can get a new one or a slightly used one," said Christy Savell, Uniform 365 coordinator.

Organizers say the event is bigger this year than last year.

(B- in Lauderdale County and Meridian Public Schools, all students wear uniforms.) It was nice to save a little on uniforms- thanks to the tax free weekend. Wish there would have been more items included, though- like school supplies! Maybe next year school supplies will be included.

Luckily, I'm opting my kids out of the uniforms. My kids go to public school for a reason.
