Crews are spending the weekend thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting Birmingham City Hall after an employee tested positive for swine flu.
Mayor Larry Langford ordered the weekend-long cleaning that began Friday night and is set to wrap up by 6 p.m. Sunday.
City spokeswoman April Odom said RiteWay Services Inc. was paid $700 to disinfect City Hall, the City Hall annex and the information management systems offices across the street.
Deputy Public Works Director Charles Yates said 120 64-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer are being placed at the entry to city buildings as an added precaution.
