Moldwood Announces Closing

A longtime business in west Alabama is closing its doors. Workers at Moldwood Products Company were informed that the business is shutting down.

The first phase of the closure will start in December. The facility will officially close in February.

Forty-one people work at the facility in York. Moldwood is owned by a South Carolina company, Sonoco.

Officials say the closure is due to a decrease in demand for the product it manufactures, wood end plugs. Moldwood has been in operation for well over twenty years.
