The U.S. Supreme Court has turned down an appeal by Alabama death row inmate Thomas Whisenhant.
The court Monday rejected his plea to avoid execution for the 1976 rape and murder of a Theodore woman.
Whisenhant argued in part that the judge colluded with prosecutors and denied him a fair trial.
He was sentenced to die for the killing of convenience store clerk Cheryle Payton. He was accused of mutilating her body and raping and killing two other convenience store clerks, and mutilating the body of one.
