Booster Seats Evaluated by IIHS

If you're in the market for a child booster seat for your vehicle, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released a list of models it recommends.

Of the sixty models tested this year, only nine got the rating of "Best Bet". Two models by Recaro, the Young Sport and the Vivo, and Cosco's Juvenile Pronto, provide the best lap and shoulder belt fit, according to the agency.

"It's really important for parents to fit their child with a booster seat in the vehicle that they're driving," said Russ Rader of the IIHS. "You can't just go and buy a booster seat off the shelf and expect that it's going to provide good belt fit."

Half of boosters not recommended are 3-in-1 or all-in-one models, which are designed to be used as restraints when the child is younger and then converted later.

A link to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and information on the evaluated seats, is provided below.
