A HARD FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY.

THE VERY COLD AIRMASS WILL PERSIST ACROSS THE REGION INTO EARLY
WEDNESDAY. LOW TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING HAVE BEEN IN THE MIDDLE TO
UPPER TEENS SINCE MIDNIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM SLOWLY TODAY AND
REMAIN BELOW OR AROUND FREEZING. LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL ONCE
AGAIN FALL INTO THE MIDDLE AND UPPER TEENS.

AFTER A BRIEF BREAK FROM THE HARD FREEZE CONDITIONS DURING THE
MID WEEK PERIOD...AN EVEN COLDER AIRMASS WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA
LATE THURSDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. ADDITIONAL HARD FREEZE WATCHES
AND/OR WARNINGS WILL LIKELY BECOME REQUIRED LATER THIS WEEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HARD FREEZE WARNING MEANS A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SUB-FREEZING
TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT. THESE CONDITIONS COULD THREATEN
PROPERTY SUCH AS EXPOSED PIPES AND WILL KILL ANY SENSITIVE
VEGETATION. CHECK ON YOUR ELDERLY FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR PROPER
HEATING SOURCES. PROVIDE PETS WITH ADEQUATE SHELTER AND ACCESS TO
UNFROZEN WATER.

REMEMBER A HARD FREEZE WARNING MEANS THAT CONDITIONS ARE IMMINENT
FOR A HAZARDOUS FREEZING EVENT IN AND CLOSE TO THE WARNING AREA.

CHECK ON ANYONE WHO YOU THINK MAY NOT HAVE ADEQUATE HEATING...
ESPECIALLY THE ELDERLY AND THOSE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.

MAKE SURE ANY EXPOSED PIPES ARE WRAPPED IN INSULATION...
ESPECIALLY WATER PIPES. LET FAUCETS DRIP A LITTLE. ALTHOUGH THIS
WASTES WATER...IT MAY PREVENT FREEZE DAMAGE. KNOW HOW TO SHUT OFF
THE WATER COMING INTO THE HOUSE. AS A LAST RESORT YOU MAY HAVE TO
SHUT OFF THIS MAIN VALVE AND DRAIN ALL THE PIPES TO KEEP THEM
FROM FREEZING AND BURSTING.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS TO MAKE SURE OUTDOOR PETS HAVE ADEQUATE
WARMTH...OR BRING THEM INDOORS AND MAKE SURE THEIR WATER SUPPLY
REMAINS UNFROZEN.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOBILE HAS ISSUED A HARD FREEZE
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM CST
WEDNESDAY. THE HARD FREEZE WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. A HARD
FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST THIS MORNING.

AFTER COLD TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING RANGING AROUND TWENTY
DEGREES...EVEN COLDER TEMPERATURES ARE IN STORE FOR THE REGION
TONIGHT...RANGING FROM THE MID TO UPPER TEENS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HARD FREEZE WARNING MEANS THAT TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP
BELOW 26 DEGREES FOR MORE THAN 5 HOURS. THESE CONDITIONS WILL BE A
THREAT TO THE LIVES OF THE ELDERLY AND HOMELESS WHO HAVE NO HEAT OR
ARE USING SPACE HEATERS WITHOUT MODERN SAFETY FEATURES. PETS AND
LIVESTOCK SHOULD ALSO BE PROTECTED. THERE COULD ALSO BE DAMAGE TO
SENSITIVE VEGETATION AND EXPOSED PLUMBING...AND ALSO TO WATER BASED
COOLING SYSTEMS OF AUTOMOBILES AND STATIONARY ENGINES. AREA
RESIDENTS AND AGENCIES ARE URGED TO MAKE FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR THESE
FREEZING CONDITIONS INCLUDING CHECKS ON THE ELDERLY AND PROVISIONS
FOR THE HOMELESS.
