Thousands of residents in west Alabama lost power Wednesday morning as temperatures remained below freezing.
Alabama Power Company spokesman Joseph Brown said a main transmission line failed about 5:10 a.m. Wednesday.
That knocked out power to about 19,200 customers in parts of three western counties, including Choctaw, as temperatures hovered around 15 degrees.
Brown says it's unclear whether the outage was linked to the frigid weather.
