The Alabama Senate Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability Committee is scheduled to vote on legislation Tuesday that would pump $236 million into the prepaid college tuition program.
The bill by Democratic state Sen. Ted Little of Auburn would make sure Alabama's program keeps paying tuition for the 45,000 participants.
The House Education Appropriations Committee has a public hearing Wednesday on similar legislation by Democratic state Rep. Craig Ford of Gadsden.
The committee also will discuss a bill by Republican state Rep. Greg Wren of Montgomery that says the state will fulfill all tuition contracts.
