Drowning of West Alabama Baby Declared an Accident

Autopsy results show the recent drowning death of a west Alabama baby was an accident.

Eleven-month old Christian Cunningham drowned last month in a bucket of water that his father was preparing to use with a mop. According to investigators, Christian's father stepped away to get a mop when his son drowned.

Given the outcome of the autopsy, police say no charges will be filed in the case.

This is a sad day. Unknown across the US is the statisics of bucket or pail drownings of children under the age of two. In the US from 2005 to 2009...76 drowned in a bucket or pail. This is more than two per month. This doesn't sound like many but this is just from pails or buckets alone!!! Pool and open water drownings are out the roof compared to this. The lack of education concerning the leading accidential killer of our children under the age of 5 in America is unexcusable.
