Normally, the major candidates for governor will spend the day before the election flying around the state having news conferences in the biggest cities. No one is doing that on Memorial Day.
Republicans Tim James and Bradley Byrne and Democrat Artur Davis are attending Memorial Day events.
Representatives of former Chief Justice Roy Moore's campaign are also attending some events for him.
Campaign spokesmen said the traditional campaign swing across the state is not appropriate for the holiday.
A spokesman for Democrat Ron Sparks, Taylor Bright, said that's why Sparks did his last week.
