An Alabama man faces charges of drunken driving and vehicular homicide after police say his pickup truck hit a woman and her children as they walked along the shoulder of a road in Tuscaloosa.
Authorities say the crash Saturday killed a 7-year-old girl and injured her mother and a 2-year-old sibling, who were hospitalized.
The Birmingham News reports the unidentified woman and her children were walking along 5th Street after the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show when a GMC Sierra pickup truck struck them and kept going for 100 yards or more before the driver stopped.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office says the truck's driver, identified as Danny Ray Smith, was charged. It was not known if Smith had hired an attorney.
