Centreville, Ala. A Bibb County circuit judge has scheduled hearings for Aug. 5 for two men who have completed federal sentences for arson convictions for blazes at nine Alabama churches in 2006.
The two men, Benjamin Nathan Moseley and Mathew Cloyd, received split sentences in federal and state prison.
A hearing will decide whether Moseley and Cloyd have to serve the full state sentence now that they have completed the federal sentences.
Bibb County District Attorney Michael Jackson said Tuesday that he opposes the two having their sentences reduced, and wants them to serve the remainder of their time in state prison.
Moseley and Cloyd were among four Birmingham men convicted for participating in a series of church arsons.
Galilee Baptist and Spring Valley Baptist in Sumter County were among the churches damaged.
