Illuminations Center for Dyslexia hosted a ribbon cutting and open house Friday. It's located at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 5019 Zero Road.
The center's primary mission is to offer an after-school curriculum to teach children who face the challenge of dyslexia how to read, write and spell. But it's not limited to that.
"We have math tutors available as well as fine arts with a private tutor, so that whatever the need is we want to be a mission to the community," said executive director Leta Palmiter. "We want to be a help. "
Illuminations Center for Dyslexia also provides some in-school instruction at private schools in Meridian and west Alabama. It also has after-school programs for home schooled children.
