The Alabama Highway Patrol corrected information it initially released about a fatal wreck that happened Monday at 6:50 a.m. on Highway 84 in Choctaw County.

Ruby Sumlin, 17, of Silas, Ala., died in the 2-vehicle crash. She was a passenger in a Pontiac that was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler.

A second passenger, Gwendolyn Sumlin, 37, and the driver, DeMarco Brown, 21, of Nashville, were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Ted Anthony Hales, Jr., of Quitman, was treated at the scene and released.

No further information is available as Alabama state troopers continue to investigate.
